Performance makeup for dancers! In this versatile, live, 2hr workshop, Rahel will cover a general performance look AND show you how to  adapt it for daytime gigs versus stage shows, apply different colour combos, and give you some tips and tools for painting on more mature skin. Bring a beverage, and let’s hang out and play with makeup! Recording included! Great if you can’t make the live time, or if you just want to rewatch it again!

-Makeup remover or micellar water (optional)

-Q-tips, tissues or cotton pads

-A toothpick or two

-A few clean thin pieces of card stock (like a business card or birthday card)  and/or scotch tape, or micropore tape.

-Primer (optional)

-Foundation (or cc cream, or alternative, depending on desired coverage)

-Concealer or foundation in a shade lighter than your skin and a shade darker than your skin.

-Setting powder (optional)

-Blush (can also use pink/peach eye shadow)

-Highlighter (optional, can also use eyeshadow)

-As many shades of eye shadow as you have (try to have at least one dark shade, one medium shade and one light shade) Rahel will be mostly using the James Charles pallette by Morphe.

-Eyeliner (liquid or gel), plus a liner pencil but dark eye shadow will do too.

-False lashes and glue

-Setting spray (optional)

-Lip colour (whatever you’ve got)

-Brushes! As many as you’ve got! If you’ve got zero, I recommend a starter kit from elf cosmetics (cheap and vegan!) with a few different face brushes and a few eye brushes. Then you can always build from there later. Plus a beauty blender or sponge is always a good idea.

Before attending the workshop…shave your face! You will be amazed at what a difference this makes in terms of texture and finish. Gently remove any peachfuzz around your lips, cheeks and jaw. You can use a fancy dermaplaner if you want, or get special facial razors for under $20, or just any old razor will do! Just be careful and don’t pull or irritate the skin.
Then at least 15 min before the workshop, wash and exfoliate your face. If you don’t have a fancy exfoliator, a homemade sugar scrub will work, or just gently polish with a clean, wet face cloth, then rinse and pat dry. Then MOISTURIZE! Get in the habit of applying SPF too if/when you do daytime gigs!
