Thursday, April 27

7:00pm:  Kick-off show produced by Global Education Center – SharQui participants are invited to perform. Please email Oreet at oreet@sharqui.com if you are interested in performing.

 

Friday, April 28

8:30-10:00am: Breakfast Networking at the Hotel

Take advantage of the free breakfast included in your hotel block reservation! Breakfast may be on the house, but the networking opportunities are priceless. Enjoy this time to connect with and learn from your fellow SharQui instructors.

1:00-1:50pm: SharQui 2 – Master class with Oreet 

Come and experience Oreet’s signature bellydance workout – but kicked up a notch. Oreet will demonstrate how to flawlessly apply the SharQui System of Instruction to more complex choreographies which includes longer combos, more intricate moves, and higher intensity. You’ll leave with strategies to teach your best in any SharQui workout class.

2:00-4:00pm: “The Write Stuff” – Branding Workshop with Angelina 

We’ll start off this work session with a quick overview of how to write for marketing. Next, you’ll get in touch with the unique value you offer as a dance and fitness instructor. You’ll work through exercises in a small group that will guide you to finding your unique strengths so that you can confidently write about them in your marketing. We’ll end the session with time for you to put everything into practice by writing content for your emails, website, or social media and getting instant feedback.

5:00pm DINNER

$20 6:00-7:30pm: Yemenite Jewish Dance with Oreet (produced by the Global Education Center. 

(Open to SharQui Instructors.  Go here to sign up for this class for $20)

In this workshop you will learn the dance of Oreet’s ethnic background – Israeli Yemenite heritage.  Oreet will explain why they were the artisans of Yemen – developing and perfecting their art, music and dance, along with keeping the original traditions of the ancients Jews of Judea (Israel). You’ll experience nuanced foot work in their dance, head and hand gestures, and the instruments they used.  Oreet sincerely hopes to enlighten you about this lesser known group of people that has made a significant impact in Israeli culture today. 1:00-2:45pm – Israeli Style Mejance 

A mejance is a an Egyptian term that is a musical composition for a dancer’s entrance. It’s a high-energy start that opens the show. Why Oreet is calling this and Israeli Mejance is because the musical composition is less classical and their are lyrics sung in both Arabic as well as Hebrew. Come experience tis wonderful medley of Israeli/Arabic sounds sung by Sarit Hativa. Be prepared to sweat.

3:00-5:00pm – “I’m Certified…Now What?” with Oreet 

Get the most out of your certification by having a clear plan on how to use it. In this work session, we’ll discuss what types of classes to offer, how much to charge, how to apply to opportunities, and how to promote yourself. We’ll get super hands-on and dig deep to help you find the best path for YOU as an instructor. You’ll walk away with personalized goals for your dance business and specific, actionable next steps to take to get there.

Sunday, April 30

9-10am: Performance of Teaching with Jenny 

All the world’s a stage – including your SharQui classes! Get ready to break through your self imposed limitations so your authentic self can shine through your teaching. In this workshop, Master Instructor Jenny will help you apply performance skills to take your classes to the next level through play, improv and voice activation exercises. This is an active hands-on workshop, so come prepared to laugh and grow with prepared 1-2 combos for feedback.

10-11am: Private Lesson Tactics with Jill 

Private lessons can be a lucrative way to expand your business and this workshop will show you how! With 20+ years of teaching experience, Master Instructor Jill will give you ideas on the different types of private lessons you can offer, suggestions on class structure, and specific exercises you can use in the lesson. We’ll also discuss the psychological needs of a private student, pricing, and more!  Bring your questions/concerns for the Q and A at the end.
