December Bellydance Fitness Classes

SharQui Workout: Our traditional high-energy bellydance workout.

SharQui Fundamentals: A slightly slower-paced SharQui workout that dives deep into fundamental dance technique. Ideal for beginners and anyone serious about mastering the core movements of bellydance. 

SharQui HIIT: Move back and forth between intense bellydance moves and weight training.

Flexibility for Bellydance Technique: Unlock your joints and mobilize your muscles toward better freer and pain-free dancing. Build the flexibility and strength needed to support high-level dance technique.

SharQui Core: This class focuses on bellydance that works the abdominals and back with a cardio workout.

Crash Choreo: Learn a 1-2 minute choreography that gets your heart rate up.

SharQui Workout Party: It’s a different themed dance party every week with Laylianah. Dance your worries away in this improv-based, stress-busting workout.

December Intensives & Special Topic Classes

Performance Coaching with Oreet
Mondays at 11:00am EST on 12/7, 12/14, 12/21 & 12/28

In this intensive we will be work on choreography ideas and performance skills to enhance your dance. By the 4th week you will have a 1-minute minimum routine choreographed that you feel great about!
$25 for December pass holders, $45 for non-pass holders

Zills n’ Rhythm with Oreet
Tuesdays at 11:00am EST on 12/1 12/8, 12/15, & 12/22

In this intensive you will learn a minimum of 3 rhythms and sounds. By the end of the intensive you will be able to play the rhythms in sequence.
$25 for December pass holders, $45 for non-pass holders

Va Va Veil with Oreet

Tuesdays at 5:00pm EST on 12/1, 12/8, 12/15, & 12/22

The most beautiful arm workout that doesn’t feel like work at all! In this intensive we will use repetition to drill a variety of fan veil movements, learn short combos, and end with some improv to help you further develop your fan veil skills. Medium size fans required for this intensive, fan veil length is dancer’s choice.

$25 for December pass holders, $45 for non-pass holders

December Workshops

Rak The Barre & Choreo with Eva
Saturday, December 12th at 2-2:45pm EST

Improve your posture, balance and enhance your dance training while getting an excellent full body workout! 30-minute RAQ THE BARRE workout w/ a strong emphasis on belly dance technique drills. Students will learn a beginner/intermediate belly dance choreography that can be danced with a balance plate on the head for advanced dancers or for those who want an extra challenge.

Students will need:

  1. Exercise mat or towel
  2. A mini exercise ball, or a rolled up towel or firm pillow works great too
  3. A barre, something to hold onto, a sturdy chair, sturdy counter top, table or dresser works great too (I use a sturdy chair)

* Optional equipment for an extra challenge include: hand weights one to two pounds, and a plastic plate or tray to be balanced on the head.

$5 for December pass holders, $15 for non-pass holders

Fluid Floorwork with Laylianah

Sunday, December 13th at 4-5pm

Discover the magical art of floorwork with Laylianah! Floorwork is a traditional part of Turkish Style Bellydance as well as American Cabaret Style. It is the part of the show when the dancer gets to show off her grace and flexibility.

$5 for December pass holders, $15 for non-pass holders

Polish Your Performance with Jill

Monday, December 14th at 8-9pm EST

Are you ready to take your choreography from practice to performance? It’s more than just remembering your routine! Polish Your Performance will give you rehearsal techniques to help better prepare you for an audience such as: transitions, eye focus, breathing, stability and much more! 

$5 for December pass holders, $15 for non-pass holders

Holiday Hafla

Saturday, December 19th at 7:00pm

Come celebrate the holiday with our Virtual Studio’s Holiday Hafla.  In this event we will showcase the bellydance artistry of our virtual students and instructors.

FREE to virtual studio members, $5 for non-members

 

Middle Eastern Drumming with Joseph Tayoun

Sunday, December 20th at 1:00-2:30pm

This workshop will consist of two parts. The first half will include Basic History, Technique, Drumming Syllables, Call and Response and Interactive Drumming Drills and Patterns. The second half will include learning basic Middle Eastern rhythms (both odd and even time signatures) and Phrasings. $35
