January Bellydance Fitness Classes

SharQui Workout: Our traditional high-energy bellydance workout.

Level 2 SharQui Workout: Our traditional high-energy bellydance workout but kick up a notch with more intricate moves.

SharQui Fundamentals: A slightly slower-paced SharQui workout that dives deep into fundamental dance technique. Ideal for beginners and anyone serious about mastering the core movements of bellydance. 

SharQui HIIT: Move back and forth between intense bellydance moves and weight training.

Flexibility for Bellydance Technique: Unlock your joints and mobilize your muscles toward better freer and pain-free dancing. Build the flexibility and strength needed to support high-level dance technique.

SharQui Core: This class focuses on bellydance that works the abdominals and back with a cardio workout.

Crash Choreo: Learn a 1-2 minute choreography that gets your heart rate up.

SharQui Workout Party: It’s a different themed dance party every week with Laylianah. Dance your worries away in this improv-based, stress-busting workout.

January Intensives & Special Topic Classes

Performance Coaching with Oreet
Mondays at 11:00am EST on 1/4, 1/11, 1/18 & 1/25

In this intensive we will be work on choreography ideas and performance skills to enhance your dance. By the 4th week you will have a 1-minute minimum routine choreographed that you feel great about!
$25 for January Fitness Pass holders, $45 for non-pass holders

Zills n’ Rhythm with Oreet
Tuesdays at 11:00am EST on 1/5, 1/12, 1/19, & 1/26

In this intensive you will learn a minimum of 3 rhythms and sounds. By the end of the intensive you will be able to play the rhythms in sequence.
$25 for January Fitness Pass holders, $45 for non-pass holders

Bellydance in Heels with Oreet                                        Tuesdays at 5:00pm EST on 1/5, 1/12, 1/19, & 1/26

Dancing in heels has long been a staple in bellydance – specifically in the Lebanese styling. It’s a skill that can be quite tricky for performers who’ve spent years training in bare feet or flat shoes. In this intensive you will learn where to put your weight, how to stabilize as well as turn. A short routine will be incorporated.

*A character dance show or ballroom shoe is ideal for this class.  If not then a comfortable high-heeled shoe. No higher than 2.5 inches please.                                                                                         $25 for January Fitness Pass holders, $45 for non-pass holders

NIA with Marisa                                                                    Thursdays at 8:00pm EST on 1/7, 1/14, 1/21, & 1/28

Explore the sensations of fitness in this 4-week program dancing the NIA routine FLY. NIA is a Holistic dance fitness program that believes throughout movement, we find health, and every person can discover, explore, unleash and enhance their individual potential to live a healthy and meaningful life by engaging their senses and listening to their body.                     $25 for January Fitness Pass holders, $45 for non-pass holders

 

January Workshops

Saidi Cane with Jill

Upper Body Expression with Rosa Noreen                    Saturday, January 23rd at 4:00-5:30pm

Draw your audience into your world, whether you’re projecting to the far corners of a theater or dancing in an intimate space. Learn to use your upper body to project emotion both facing the audience and when turned away. Using dance technique and non-verbal theatrical concepts, we’ll explore the ways our belly dance movements of the ribcage, shoulders, neck, and arms can be used deliberately to bring a special dimension to your dancing. $35
