Workshop Descriptions

Shimmys are a must have in every bellydancer’s movement vocabulary! Brush up on your practice drills and learn different technique approaches to your favorites. Jill will cover a variety of shimmys: shoulders, hips, legs and even stomach flutters! Learn which shimmys fit best with different music tones and how to layer movements on top of them.

Welcome to SharQui – The bellydance workout, perfect for those new to the world of bellydance or fitness. This class is all about fun, fitness and the fundamentals of bellydance designed in a format that not only builds stamina, strength and flexibility but that is super easy to follow too. Get ready to shimmy and shake with us and let’s put the joy back into fitness.

SharQui Workout: Our traditional high-energy bellydance workout.
SharQui 2: Our traditional high-energy bellydance workout but kicked up a notch with intricate moves as well as speed.
SharQui Veil: A traditional SharQui Workout infused with safe veil technique. Enhance your workout from the added upper body toning. Veil is optional as options for students without veils will be provided. Newbie to experienced friendly.
SharQui Styles: Our traditional high-energy bellydance workout but fused with an inspiration of another dance genre. Each week will be a new dance style fusion.
SharQui Strength: Traditional fitness fused with bellydance elements to increase stamina and strength. The use of a chair and light hand weights are used.
Dancer’s Stretch: A 30 min flex and flow from head to toe with a blend of yoga , gyrotonic principles and somatic centered movement. Need mat, armless chair & blocks.
SharQui Core: This cross training class combines light weights and Pilates mat exercises with bellydance movements, all focused on strengthening the abdominals and back for SharQui.
Crash Choreo: Learn a 1-2 minute choreography that gets your heart rate up.
Restorative Stretch: Start and end your week with a mind, body, breath and myofascia system focused restorative stretch (need mat & strap) feedback from this class: “my hips… increased flexibility & less pain!” & “I’m going to the chiropractor less!”
